The College recruiting process is extensive and can often feel like it takes a long time. This is normal for every student-athlete to experience, but patience is the key alongside trusting the advice and guidance we provide.
It is near impossible to predict when an individual will receive interest from college coaches, and when they will eventually commit to their university of choice. The reason for this is that every student-athlete is a unique case, and all college coaches recruit at differing speeds for a variety of reasons.
The more proactive you can be as a recruit, the more likely you are to receive feedback and interest from coaches. However, some coaches may not focus on recruitment for your year group at the same time you’re ready to speak with them. Therefore, patience is imperative as we work to ensure you are on as many radars of college coaches as possible. The promotional phase of the process lasts for several months, and it’s very rare that a recruit starts the process and is ready to decide on an offer within just a few weeks.
For context, the earliest commitments we have seen from previous Athleticademix athletes have been around 16-17 months prior to them arriving in the US. This would be considered very early but can be possible depending on the situation, i.e. how proactive the recruit is and the recruiting status of the college(s) involved.
The average timeframe for our student-athletes to commit will be approximately 4-9 months prior to arriving in the US. So, for example, if you are expecting to enrol in the ‘Fall’, i.e. August 2026, the likely timeframe you’ll make your decision would fall between the previous November 2025 – April 2026. The more time you have in the process to explore your options before this point, the better.
There is no “right” time to have committed by. It is entirely about when feels right for the individual to make an informed decision. So our advice is not to focus on what others may be doing, as their situation will be different to yours for a number of reasons: Financial needs, academic grades and test scores, positional needs (team sports) and if any of their scholarship offers have a decision deadline in place.
In order to maximise your opportunities and help us to remain as proactive as we can, it’s essential for you to make sure you have completed all tasks on your Athleticademix Portal where you can find detailed guidance on what’s needed. Without the relevant amount of recruiting video footage, information, grades/transcripts and SAT/ACT scores (where applicable), we are limited to what we can work with.
