Stepan Maltsev is a Spring of Fall 2023 transfer student. He joined the University of Dubuque in Fall 2022, but actually played less than one full game before getting injured and missing the remainder of the season. It is likely that he will qualify as a medical redshirt and maintain four years of eligibility.
Stepan is a physical, well-organised player, originally from Ukraine but studied at Rossall School in England.
He played mostly as a Central Defender back in the UK. But has transitioned to playing as a Centre Midfielder in the US since arriving.
Academically, he has done well in his first semester at Dubuque, maintaining a 3.7 GPA. He is looking to study Sport Management/Marketing but open to looking at other majors.
