About Ruby

Ruby Murphy is an imposing Central Defender who can also play as a DCM. She is looking for College options for Fall 2023.

Ruby plays for Plymouth Argyle, where she is involved with the 1st Team, who play in the English 3rd tier, and the U23’s squad. She has also been invited to train with the Chelsea FC U18 Academy side on numerous occasions during Winter, 2021 and Spring, 2022.

As a player, Ruby offers a commanding presence at the back or as a deep-lying midfielder. She is physically strong in the tackle and reads play well, making it difficult for opponents to get past her. On the ball, Ruby plays with her head up and has an excellent range of passing. She is comfortable hitting 40-50 yard diagonal balls to change the point of attack and/or turn the opposition towards their own goal. Ruby is also able to take free kicks and pose a threat from outside the penalty area.

Currently, she studies at the prestigious Mount Kelly School in Devon, England. Ruby has been a standout player for the school team, which has earned her call ups to represent and captain the Independent Schools FA (ISFA) at the U18 national level.

Academically, Ruby is doing very well and maintains a 4.0 GPA – and achieved a composite score of 21 in her first ACT attempt (summer, 2022). She will graduate from High School in Summer, 2023.
